I think corn should not be subsudized so heavily by the government. I think the subsidies should be reduced slowly so the whole economy doesn't suffer. Corn is cheap to grow because the government is keeping the price low and tax payers are paying the price to keep large farm corporations happy :).
Corn should definitely not be subsidized. Corn should not be in almost every food we eat! The government makes corn cheap to grow, so farmers take advantage of that and grow tons.
Corn should not be subsidezed by the government. They should take away the subsidies so that the farmers will bring more diversity back into farms. Corn is cheap because the government makes us, basically, pay for the cost of corn to keep it cheap so farmers can grow a lot of it.
Although corn should not be subsidized, the taking away of the subsides could begin a economic crisis, as when the subsides go, prices go up, more farmers farm, prices go down,some go out of biz, price goes up, more farmers, etc until the whole situation is leveled out. The corn is cheap because the government pays farmers to grow it, and the farmers usually cant refuse. Also, I must disagree with carly because farmers are not the one taking advantage, its not their fault! If they didn't grow tons of corn, well, their entire living is gone! Broke! For them, its corn or nothing.

I don't think that farmers should have corn as the majority of the food that they grow, because if you are growing two types of food, corn and soy beans. If 75% of it is corn and 25% of it is soy beans then if none of the corn grew that harvest then you would only ave 25% of what you started with to sell and that 25% would probably be like 22% because all of they crops don't always grow correctly. That is why I feel that the government shouldn't put so much attention on corn and to start letting the farmers be more diverse. The more different types of crops you have the better chance you have of doing good if one of your grops dont grow.

The United States and China were the top 2 corn producers in 2007, but of course U.S. made 180,122,180 tons more than china.
