Diversity

Why is diversity so important to agriculture? Or is it? Check out this link to learn more about farm animals that are endangered of becoming extinct.

  1. I think it is because if you did not rasie or grow different things we be stuck with one plant or animal.

  2. I think it is very important to have different types of plants and animals on a farm because we would get sick and tired of the same thing over and over again. Also, we wouldn't get enough vitamins to be heathy.

  3. Diversity is important because if you only plant one thing or raise one animal you probably wouldn't make as much money (more products=more money), you wouldn't have enough vitamins and minerals to support a good diet, and some plants and animals would go extinct if we didn't plant or breed/have them on our farms.

  4. I think it is good to have diversity because if you didn't you would have the same thing for everyone. If you didn't like that one thing then there you would be nothing for you to eat. Companies would probably slack off because they know that there is no competition and every thing would taste the same.

  5. I think it is good to have diversity because it keeps people healthier. It keeps the nutrients in the soil, and gives a larger variety of foods with different nutrients that people need. Much better than eating just corn. :-)

  6. I think it's good to have diversity to not only have a good diet, but provide the nutrients for the earth for better crop, like cow manure.(there is a plant that releases really good minerals into the earth but i forgot it:p)

  7. It is important to have diversity in plants or else one plant would take over the whole ground. We wouldn't get all the nutrients that we need and we would get tired of eating the same thing all the time. And if we just raised one tpye of animal we wouldn't get the variety of meat that we get now.

  8. It's so inportant because you need to have different foods. If every one only grew corn everyone would be extreamly unhealthy

  9. It is because 1 farm might have better quality things than the other.

  10. It is good to have diversity because if you just have one type of crops, then that crop will take all the nutrients it needs out of the soil. Eventually, all the nutrients that that plant needs will be sucked out of the soil and the plant will not be capable to thrive. Crops need to be rotated so they can get different nutrients out of the soil.

  11. Without diversity on farms, many species of animals that have grown dependent of humans would die out. Also, different crops need different nutrients to survive, so a more diverse crop could each get most of their nutrients without having to compete with other crops for their food.

  12. if only one plant is grown on a farm the soil becomes very bad for growing plaints without chemicals

  13. Diversity is a good thing because different plants need different nutrients and give the soil different nutrients. If you plant corn in the same field every year, the siol will lake a lot of nutrients after about two years. If you plant different plants in different fields every year, the siol will stay healthy and will help produce better plants.
