Americans are eating more and working out less. Instead of playing sports we would rather sit at home watching T.V. or plsying video games. From 1971 to 2006 the Childhood obesit rate has gone from 5.8% to 17.3% that is over 11.5% in only 35 years. Restaurants (mostly fast-food) are making the items with high-calorie,processed foods less to pay for.
Like Avery said, teens and adults today have gotten pretty lazy. We don't play as many sports and sit on our butts watching TV or playing on the computer. Fast food restaurants have high fat foods, which doesn't help the problem of people not exercising. So all that food turns into extra weight. Thus fat people are born!!!!!!!!
Since a more modern society has begun to develop, people have realized that they no longer have to work for many things in their lives, leading to more sitting and typing than hard, physical labor. Things that have helped to influence this are video games, which require little labor more than moving thumbs, and technology in general. Many kids and teens now opt to sit and twiddle their thumbs instead of running around, all the while eating fast food junk and getting, as Carly described, fat. (its not a nice word, i apologize)
The major factors of teen obesity in the US are fast food, little exercise, and more eating. The food corps. keep producing unhealthy processed foods and not making healthier foods cheaper. Just the unhealthy ones. Not many people go outside or play a sport leading to obesity.
Teen obesity has changed a lot over the years because people are wanting more food, working out less, and of corse fast food. I would blame the T.V.s and computers for getting us "sucked" into the screens, therefore us wanting to watch more instead of wanting to go outside and do sports. The lives of teens are only going to get worse like they have in the past 50 years if we don't stop it. Like carly said if we get fat then we produce fat children and then it is just a chain reaction.
children are getting fater and fatter. now a good portion of teens are obesse. this is beacause everyone can eat as much food as they want without haveing to make it.they also can be entertained without having to go outside. When corn came along all of these great easy to get food is cheap to!!!! corn lowerd prices of the food that people where eating more and more intill it became a usual thing to eat out of porpothion becaus people can aford it ,so they buy the "more food fore the same price " items. in the end that deal goes bad when people are hospitalized
Like what Carly K. and Avery said, People are getting lazier and lazier every day. Fast food's not helping any either. Technology like T.V and computers is keeping us from the outdoors. 50 years ago, there wasn't as much technolgy to keep us traped indoors. As a result, we were much healthier.
Teenagers are getting to be very lazy, thus leading them to becoming fat!!! The fast food industry isn't helping at all. Their just feeding us fatting food!! Teens are also not including exercise in their daily activities so they are just eating too many calories and not burning any of them. The TV and video game systems are not helping at all. They are keeping kids from playing outside.
Like Ruhi said, technology is keeping us from playing outside. But 50 years ago there wasn't as great technology so kids were playing outside burning calories, but now kids aren't burning as many calories. We have also stoped farming as much, so all those hours of hard work are being stoped. So kids muscles are beginning to grow weaker and weaker. Which leads us to now; FAT TEENS, ADULTS, AND KIDS!!!
people can buy more unhealthy foods for less money than healthy foods. teens lives have changed by the added risk of diseases from eating so much unhealthy foods. also more teens are getting obese
Teens are getting fatter and fatter. Modern statistics prove it. Teens are obese and are expected to develope type-2 diabetes in their lifetime. We are the first generation in quite a while who are not expected to live longer than our parents. With all of the modern foods developed to push our evolutionary buttons it is easy to see why. Video games and T.V. don't help a whole lot. Most kids don't see a reason to go out and play or exercise when they could be inside eating candy and playing wii.
